While this is not late breaking news, nor particularly relevant for another year or so, BC has adopted the new National Building Code energy efficiency standards for housing published in December of 2012, which will be effective in our provincial Building Code as of December 19, 2014.  In short, this revision introduces Building Code performance standards for windows and heating equipment for the first time.

Short of combing through the NBC model code language, I haven’t seen a great summary of the standards until I was referred to a good resource available through the National Codes website.  The online presentation outlining the revisions is broken out into a series of short videos, bundled into four categories as follows:
